While the Tuscan Maremma was famous for its Butteri – cowboys who rode horses for centuries, managing the distinctive local cattle breed, this less traveled region of Tuscany is famous for its long sandy beaches, quaint seaside villages, and creative dining opportunities.

Cyclists start this fascinating trip in a deluxe upscale hotel set in a Southern Tuscan parkland retreat of unspoiled country back roads few tourists ever see. On the fifth day, adventure and leisure moves to the Maremma as the tour enters the coastal lowlands. Here, our hotel welcomes you to enjoy the natural beauty of the area, where land and sea meet. The Maremma hotel is located in town, across from the seaside port area, five minutes by foot to the medieval village, the beach and the pedestrian walking area in the centre of town.

GreatCycling has all sorts of cycling itineraries to suit every interest. At every turn, the roads lead deep into the Southern Tuscany towns ofPitigliano, Sorano and Sovana, then down to the Maremma and the villages of the Tuscan Archipelago.
